450 SQN BAND
The Air Training Corps as well as offering once in a life time opportunities like flying, also offers the chance to learn an instrument and play in a traditional marching band.

450 Sqn are the only Air Cadet Military Band in Surrey

We have only recently began our band but already are looking in great shape and looking forward to appearing at public displays and entering band competitions.
The cadets can play a number of different instruments including:

Snare Drum

Glockenspiel

Flute

Saxophone

Trumpet

Bugle

Clarinet
We have cadets who had never picked up a instrument, to being able to play a number of marching tunes in front of a large audience.
By learning and playing in the band the cadets are able to achieve a Bands Badge to wear on their uniform. It enables the cadet to stand out. Not many people in the ATC are able to wear the badges so it gives the cadets a sense of achievement and pride.

450 Sqn band began when the Sqn Warrant Officer told one of his dreams to one of his Adult Sergeants and his Cadet Warrant officer. As they had both previously been in a marching band with years of practice behind them they agreed to carry out the direct training and so opened the opportunity of the band to the cadets.

The three members of staff have taken the rolls of  Band Master, Band Warrant Officer and Musical Coordinator.

Our Sqn band started with less than 10 players and  now has over 20 with  many more interested in joining.
